Compare devices by exact model and evidence. Compare cosmetic options by appearance, comfort and upkeep.
Low-level laser devices
Some devices are FDA-cleared for hair-loss indications. Clearance is specific to a device and is different from drug approval. Ask about studies of the exact model, the people studied and how often the device needs to be used.
The return policy matters.
A cap, band or comb may involve a substantial upfront purchase. Read the trial period, return eligibility, shipping charges, restocking fee and warranty. “Money back” can have conditions that are easy to miss.
Hair fibers, systems and micropigmentation
Fibers and hair systems can change appearance without regrowing follicles. Scalp micropigmentation creates a cosmetic effect; it is not a regrowth treatment. Compare maintenance, comfort, recurring expense, practitioner experience and removal or revision options.
You can also choose no treatment.
Changing a haircut, shaving or simply leaving your hair alone are valid choices. Hair density is not a measure of masculinity, worth or desirability. If worry about hair is taking over daily life, support can matter as much as a product decision.
Before committing
- Write down whether your goal is regrowth, slowing loss or changing appearance.
- Ask what evidence supports that specific goal.
- Calculate purchase, maintenance and replacement expenses.
- Check that the return terms allow a fair assessment.
